Connecting families to local lactation support
Thanks to a contribution from the Minnesota Department of Health, MBC is happy to bring ZipMilk.org to Minnesota.
ZipMilk enables families to connect with lactation support in their area. Providers of lactation care, including IBCLCs, CLCs, breastfeeding counselors, and other lactation professionals; medical professionals; county and regional public health services; and community support groups can list their information without charge and change their own listings whenever needed. Listings are reviewed by volunteers from the Minnesota Breastfeeding Coalition before being approved.

Contact Emails
Emails within a listing (contact emails) do NOT show to the public. If an email needs to be viewable to the public, it must be put in the description of the listing.
The email within a listing is for listing submission, approval, and administrative purposes only.
Providers that may be listed by someone else (i.e., WIC coordinators, hospital staff, etc) need to confirm who will manage the listings and who the public will actually reach out to. The person managing the listing for edits will put their email in the designated “email” dialogue box. The person the public will actually reach out to will be in the description.
Images
Images can be a personal image (i.e. a headshot) or a business logo. There are no set requirements on size and file type, but we recommend JPG and less than 500px wide.
Description
Include as much information as you’d like within your description! Don’t worry about it taking up space on the website, but make sure it includes what you believe will bring people to your services by your website or other contact.
Pending Listings
Any new or edited listings are removed from ‘published’ list and are hidden from the public as ‘pending’ until they are approved by the state admin. It may take up to 14 business days for a ‘pending’ listing to be approved and ‘published’. Listings receive an email when their listing is ‘published’.
Languages Spoken
You may select more than 1 language by using the Ctrl button on your keyboard. Any language not within the list can be typed in under Other Language(s) Spoken.
Admin Notes
While it may be tempting to add a note to your state admin here, please refrain. This box is just for administrative purposes.
Service Area
We added an optional field where you can indicate your service area: by radius, counties, or other.
Categories:
IBCLC
Include your L-certification number and expiration date when submitting/editing your listing.
Thoroughly review the Practice Type section of your listing to ensure accuracy.
Medical Professional
No special circumstances.
Support Group
See ‘Contact Emails’ above.
It is best to use the Time, Charge, & Location fields as it lays the information out for families, compared to within the body of the description.
